La Vie Est Belle is a new Lancome fragrance, available on the market from fall 2012. The concept of this fragrance is centered on the idea of natural and simple beauty, freedom from conventions and the choice of once own vision of happiness. The fragrance is a kind of outlook on life, inspired by joy and pleasure in small things. This gourmand yet elegant composition is developed by perfumers Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo. The final formula is the result achieved after three years of probation and 5000 versions. Iris is the key ingredient of the perfume, surrounded by orange blossoms and jasmine in the heart. The composition’s opening provides fruity flavors of black currant and pear, while the base is warm, gourmand and powdery due to almond-like accords of tonka bean, praline, patchouli and vanilla. The flacon is a redesigned version of the classic Lancome bottle from 1949. Actress Julia Roberts is the face of the campaign, shot by director Tarsem Singh. It is available in EDP concentration. I smelled La Vie Est Belle on my cousin a while ago and was enchanted. It smelled warm and sweet and pretty on her, so I asked her the name and went and got myself a sample. Oh my god. On me, this smells like a cheap body spray/hair spray hybrid. There seems to be this powdery note that turns the otherwise delicious sweetness into something cloying, and then there's an alcoholic hair spray sharpness. Couldn't get it off fast enough. For the people who can wear La Vie Est Belle, know that I am jealous. Very jealous. LVEB don't like my skin unfortunatly :( I am really desapointed. It smells way too sharp and spicy probably because of the mix tonka beans and patchouli. Its such a lost because it is a very good fragrance and smells divine on paper. I guess i will stick with my dearest Flowerbomb. At least there is Flowerbomb as a good alternative if LVEB doesn't work for you. After reading many reviews I had too much expectations, so I went to the store in oder to purchase a bottle. All I can say is: what a headache! It didn't work for me at all, it was too sharp on my nose and I got dizzy (really!) I love gourmands but this one only became nice on me after I washed my hand a couple of times. It was too powdery and that sharp thing, damn... I don't know what it is but it smells quite synthetic. I bought a bottle of the Intense version instead and have a bit of regret tho... I walked into Sephora and asked the sales associate to make me like gourmands. She handed me a tester spray strip of LVEB, and I, having smelled it before this past spring and not been impressed, balked a little bit. Oh please, the pink Flowerbomb dupe? I was looking for something warm, ambery, and sweet. Not a praline bomb. Blech. Pass. I took a sample home anyways, at the SA's playful insistence. And, as always, I proved myself wrong. Guys, it's delicious. It just smells SO freaking good. I want to drink this scent down like a cup of hot cocoa. The weather this morning in the Bay Area was foggy and cool, but I was wrapped up in my warm, pink cashmere scarf that is La Vie Est Belle. I loved La Vie Est Belle EDP when I tried it at the Lancome counter at Macy's. But when I started using a glass spray sample vial my mother gave to me, I found it to be overwhelming, very sweet, with something "chemical" and bitter jammed in the center. This has excellent staying power and projects almost too well. I was very self-conscious the first time I wore it in an office setting. I could smell myself wafting all over the place, and I only sprayed and "stepped into" the mist prior to leaving for work that morning. I like some power fragrances, including Angel EDP for women, which can sting your nose with its sharp patchouli note. But Angel has kept its place in my collection and heart for years. Does this smell like V&R's Flowerbomb? No. I don't think it does. It opens sweetly and does have depth and complexity. I get the gourmand notes and the patchouli and sugary praline. I think this is blended very well. There is just something in it that doesn't blend well with my chemistry. Of all the Lancome fragrances for women, I think this is the best and has the most universal appeal. But it is not a good match for me. chic modern sweet is the main theme . this perfume pulled out the modern sophisticated classy sexy sweet with modern vibes thanks to the patchouli without being cheesy or over sugary that make me dizzy and sick it is unique sweet perfume which is really a rare case I admire the smell the projection the longevity it is a hit , it is not my signature but it is my thing when I am in the mode for sweet perfume it suits winter/autumn better great job lancome Totally goes with the classic bimbo look, and it makes you feel comfortable about it. I'm saying this as a good thing, btw, you can go to a club (in my day they called those places discos...) without feeling silly with the help of this perfume. Any pink stuff, any fake lips and boobs, over-arched eyebrows, racoon eyes makeup, pickle-eyes makeup, "phuck-me"-shoes, and even screechy coloured Asics worn with a massive men's gold watch and cap covered in Swarowski crystals... all this is at great peace with LVEB. Julia Roberts is not a bad image for LVEB, but you know who would do even better, perfection... wait for it... Cicciolina, my friend. She's the face for LVEB !!! I was looking for a long lasting perfume with a good sillage. This one is ideal for me. But I think it's not good for hot weather so I can't wait to start to use it in October or November:( La Vie Est Belle smells sooo delicious and makes me feel cozy ! This has to be one of my all times fav fragrances. It is the most beautiful soft sweet yet elegant smelling fragrance. My boyfriend loves this on me and I recieve tons of compliments when I wear it. This perfume has great last power; it stays on all day. This is not a typical sickly sweet gourmand fragrance, it was made beautifully and i definitely see this as more of an adult scent. I cannot see a single reason as to why someone wouldn't like this perfume it is a people pleaser and smells nothing short of perfection This has to be one of my all times fav fragrances. It is the most beautiful soft sweet yet elegant smelling fragrance. My boyfriend loves this on me and I recieve tons of compliments when I wear it. I cannot see a single reason as to why someone wouldn't like this perfume it is a people pleaser and smells nothing short of perfection Yes, this scent became very famous . I would say too popular for my taste but recognize that it is a beautiful perfume. What we have is a huge sillage and realized that this is what makes it a classic fragrance . For years manufacturers of perfumes do not put out for sale sillage and fragrances that will last much. I think that people were missing , feel the scent trail left by the fragrances of the 80s and 90s . This was a blind buy and WOW can I just say this perfume is down right warmth in a bottle. I'm a gourmand type of woman, and think there is nothing sexier than smelling edible and this perfume makes me feel delicious! Scent - 10/10 Lasting power - 9/10 I think this fragrance is like wrapping up in a warm blanket. Having said that, I was on the fence the very first time I tried this. I'm a bit intimidated by very strong perfumes...I don't like the thought of gagging someone else or invading another person's space...even if it does only involves his/her sniffer. I loved the way it smelled--the sweet, savory, powdery--all melding together. I asked my husband what he thought. I got a "Meh--not bad, but you have other things I like better." (That is often a response when I try something new--and it changes sometimes when I ask at a different time.) Since then, I have smelled this fragrance on others and wanted so badly to try it again and smell like that! So, I found a good deal and bought some. I'm so very glad I did. I figured that, if it was too overwhelming, I had probably over-sprayed. I was right. Such a powerful fragrance is not to be applied with multiple layers. This is a one-and-done scent. It is certainly not overwhelming when sprayed with attention to the strength. So, the next time I asked my husband what he thought, he really liked it =). This scent has a beautiful dry down. I love this one all the way through the day. All of the characteristics that drew me to it initially are still here, and I think this one will have a permanent place in my collection. ***Update*** Been wearing this for nearly a month now... Updating status to OBSESSED. possible becoming a contestant for my signature. I tested this in the store and, at first, was overwhelmed with sharpness. I decided not to buy and moved on. As it settled down, it became lovely, warm, attention grabbing, feminine, inviting, and with a subtle delicacy of succulence. Subtle, yet constantly calling my attention toward the ever developing , changing scent. Yes, I detect the powder, but sweetness and some spice underlying. It is sugar, and spice, and everything nice, wrapped in enough mystery to keep you interested. It can be flirty, girly, and romantic. It can be elegant, sumptuous, and graceful. I purchased a rollerball, as I think the spray is what overwhelmed me when I first tried it. With the rollerball, I can apply it carefully with the control of where and how much juice to apply. This is a strong scent and is not meant to be doused about. It also lasts several hours. I'm quite taken with La Vie Est Belle. Brava, Lancome, brava. It's a sweet, powdery, warm, and cozy scent, like a freshly made pink cotton candy fluff. When it debuted, I was still on the tail end of my sweet kick, so I did like it, and thought it sweet but elegant, though I didn't think it was the best one of the flood of sweet gourmands on the market. It's nice but generic and nondescript. Every year that goes by, my taste for sweet perfs diminishes, until this finally became way too stick syrupy sweet for me. This kind of reminds me of the Borg on Star Trek, all one mind, all one smell, all one perfume. Maybe we can get in a spaceship shaped like a Flowerbomb bottle and take off into space "assimilating" the masses. *ssprtzz ssprtzz* You are one of us, now. I smelled it on a sample paper. Yes, yes, it smells like Flowerbomb. I reviewed Flowerbomb. And because it's Lancome, it's longer lasting because of better quality ingredients. At least I can say that for the House, but how I wish for something more original from them. Le Vie, oh how I wanted to love you. You enticed me and roped me in when I smelled you on that girl at the Lancome counter. But I'm mad at you now because you are one expensive little trickster. You're so pretty on the outside, but ugly on the inside Once you got me, you turned into a powdery, syrupy, medicinal smelling mess. After 2 days I'm taking you back from where I got you and there you can lie in wait to trick some other poor unsuspecting soul. Stick a fork in me, I'm done ! This one gets better and better over time. Over the past six months, it went from my "Likes" pile to my "Loves" and has not budged downward since. Although I like Flowerbomb, and do think they resemble each other, LVEB is subtler and softer than FB, not as showy. It is sweet, vanilla-laden goodness, not much powder to my nose (I'm thankful, for powder is not a fave note here). It's a safe scent, one you could wear without fear of offending too many people as long as it is lightly applied (as most perfumes should be, really). It is not exotic or unique, but it is definitely lovely and comforting, not a bad thing for a perfume. At the beginning of this year, I had decided to find myself a signature scent. I thought it would be a straightforward affair - sniff every sample in Boots until The One presented itself to me; I had no idea there were so many shades of love, hate, like and dislike to be experienced on this quest. I started in what I felt to be a fairly safe area; the fruity-florals. I ploughed through them diligently, sometimes sampling, sometimes blind-buying - but I never experienced anything close to that tingle when you know something special is happening between you and a bottle of juice. I have now begun to shift my attentions to spicier oriental scents, and feel a little more at home amongst them - I just didn't feel brave enough to experiment with some of these bombastic lovelies when I first started out. And I guess that's why I'm just not that enamoured of La Vie est Belle - it's very, very 'safe'. It's not offensive - it's pretty and girly in a sanitised-patchouli kind of way. It has the usual dosage of jasmine and vanilla, done a little more tastefully than Fantasy, perhaps, but it feels like the same thing. They ALL do! It's a bridal 'fume; feminine and sweet, but nothing so unusual as to detract attention away from The Dress or its wearer. I sampled this at the tail-end of my plunge into the plethora of fruity corals on the market, and I think my nose was just exhausted by the lot of them by then. I will concede that the staying-power is pretty good - I smelled it on the cuff of my jacket even after washing - but for me, this is another Lancôme 'safe scent'. And I'm kinda bored of them..... the lasting power is amazing! & i don't smell the resemblance to flowerbomb. now thats out the way... this fragrance is a good one, it CAN be oversprayed! little goes a very long way, its not sweet as i would imagine sweet to be such as Fantasy by Britney its not that type of sweet but to me it isn't overly fruity either... i have difficulty describing this but honestly go & test it, I've liked this for a long time now & got another bottle today. This is very sticky sweet, but not in a girly way. This is a sweet mature scent that I kind of like, but it has to be used wisley. It is strong! You could almost make people faint if you use this in the wrong way. It is for sure a look-at-me scent so at a very loud party maybe. Not an office scent. I've been enjoying the reviews for this divisive perfume! I personally have a couple of deluxe samples and possibly a roller ball of it, and while I enjoy it, I rarely reach for it. I remember one reviewer said its for the younger crowd or older women refusing to grow up. I actually had the opposite experience! I was doing some grocery shopping at Target and I got a whiff of the sultry, nearly edible powdery goodness that is LVEB. But, I couldn't identify it, even though I own it! So when the woman wearing this gorgeous scent passed by me, I realized it was her and I made up a silly excuse to turn my cart around and walk past her again, but this time I asked! I'd say she was in her late fifties or early sixties. She had shorter hair worn naturally, and it was salt and pepper colored. She had on a gorgeous silk suit with splashes of green, yellow and purple flower type patterns on it. She looked stately. That's the best word I can come up with for her. And she smelled heavenly! When I asked, she was a tiny bit embarrassed and asked me if it was too much, too strong. I immediately reassured her that it was absolutely gorgeous on her. It was perfect and she wore it so well! I explained I'm a fragrance nut so I'm hard-wired to notice delicious smells but that I thought it suited her so perfectly and elevated her status in my mind, to a woman worthy of being envied. It may be that subconsciously, I don't feel I can match her elegance so I don't even try to pull off LVEB. I had this one & thought I loved it- it's certainly a head turner. But it was headache inducing & I sold it- the fruitiness is so syrupy & sickly sweet. And I smell it everywhere, every woman is wearing it. I have figured out a word that sums it up. Insipid. It is a sickly, insipid perfume to appeal to the tasteless. Not just a headache inducer but an eye-roll inducer too. It's tacky. Sorry ladies, love has turned to hate on this one- it's just too much everything, an over indulgence. I wish people would stop comparing this to Flowerbomb which I love- there are no similarities for me at all. If anything it is much more similar to the new Viktor & Rolf scent- is it Bon Bon? That is equally as hideous. I bought it late in fall, it was probably the rainy weather that made me choose the frag, as it felt warm and sweet. But later on I was just trying to pursuade myself that I like it, for pure respect for Lancome)) The frag is good, no doubt, but too much of iris makes it a bit obtrusive on my skin. I tried it at Macy's a couple of months ago and noticed that even after I washed my clothes, my clothes still smelled like La Vie Est Belle. I purchased it months ago but the bottle is still full because you do not have to douse yourself in it to smell it on you. I get a lot of compliments from it. If you spray it on yourself in the morning you will still smell it until you go to bed at night and so will everyone else around you. Its like there's no dry down from La Vie Est Belle. Its beautiful but not something you want to wear everyday because the scent engulfs you and everyone else in the room. To be honest, I picked up La Vie Est Belle because I thought the bottle's little leaf-like silver "neck scarf" on its pink body was so cute! The scent has a beautiful vibe to match its name - delicate, feminine, playful, elegant. Very Parisienne! Brown sugar on vanilla, juicy red fruit, and patchouli (it reminds me quite a bit of Miss Dior Chérie). La Vie Est Belle is more gourmand and less berry - but sadly, it went SO SHARP on me. The sillage was great, a few feet, but unfortunately I can't comment on the longevity as I scrubbed it after half an hour, when the sharpness on my skin became unbearably strong. I do think Julia Roberts was an excellent choice to rep this. She's relatable but radiant, positive, elegant, and very feminine. A great match for the personality of the scent. I still think it's a beautiful fragrance - I just would caution anyone interested to test it before buying. I really thought I was going to like this fragrance, but for me the vanilla is just too strong and overrides nearly all the other layers. I guess I am not a fan of vanilla in perfume. It would be lovely without it-or with a lesser amount. I'm actually not a huge fan of Flowerbomb either-which this perfume is likened too. I thought that this fragrance was going to be one of those too sweet, too balsamic, too powdery perfumes for my age. I got hand on its sample as the smell lingers on its vial. I worn just a little of it on my neck and lo and behold I'm absolutely in love. It's definitely one of the strongest perfume I've met and to wear it: sometimes less is more. It was very jasmine-like and vanillic the first time I swept it on my neck and the smell stayed longer than my Salvatorre's Signorina does. Ummmm......testing this right now. So about a month ago, one of the clerks at work was wearing this oppressive, headache inducing perfume that it smelled like she doused herself in it. I could smell her a mile away and steered clear. After a minute or two on my skin....oh no, THIS is what she was wearing. Attempting to scrub it off has been difficult to say the least. Headache inducing. when a friend first spritzed this fragrance on me at sephora as a bad joke, i choked and glared at her, expressing my eternal hate for the jerk who made me smell like i had dunked myself in a bath and body works candle wax. however, once the top notes wore off, the scent settled down to become something not that awful. actually, it smelled kind of yummy in the way one finds the smell of melting/toasting(?) sugar yummy. I was not a fan of super sweet scents, but this was strangely addictive... i couldn't stop smelling my arm so not a fan of the top notes, but am a fan of the drydown. but a little goes a long way with this fragrance, so go easy on the application. sillage is good and longevity is good too. i own the edp. It's a beautifully done sweet fragrance with awesome sillage and lasting power. I get tons of compliments when I wear it. So here's my take on it. It's like the 3 little bears. Papa Bear is Flowerbomb, Mama Bear is La Vie Est Belle and Baby Bear is Fancy by Jessica Simpson. I have all three, IMO, Each are similar but have a slightly unique spin. In the case of this perfume it's a bit milder than FB but a little more mature than Fancy. What I like about this fragrance compared to FB is that it's not a slap in the face scent...it's inviting from the beginning. However take note that a little goes a long way with this perfume; I made the mistake and went overboard with it one time, smh. I do however like the drydown of FB more than this one. LVEB reminds me of Fancy on the dry down. I'm glad I gave this perfume a second chance; it's a great addition for anyone who loves a sweet scent done right. I did not expect this to be so good. Got it as a gift and love it. It's got a beautiful sillage and base notes are pretty fresh and neat (not the usual musky woodsy powdery fragrance that most 'long lasting' perfumes typically have). Thumbs up for this one ! I had had enough of the vast offerings of floral watery fruity frags everywhere I turned, and went to my local Boscov's fragrance department begging for someone to PLEASE show me a sweet, powdery, vanilla gourmand girly option! A grown-up version of a wonderful drugstore body spray, I implore you! I was ushered immediately to La Vie Est Belle and, especially in comparison with the many stale floral classics I'd been sniffing, was delighted to breath in clouds of fresh, softly spicy, sweet, powdery feminine prettiness! Thankfully not at all heavy on the patchouli, which is NOT a favorite of mine. I'd tested LVEB along with way too many others at once on occasion in Ulta, but never figured out that IT was that nice one I was smelling after I'd left the store. All that said, I do agree with others who have cautioned not to over spray! The initial spray is lovely, and the dry down is beautifully soft and powdery... but too enthusiastically adding to the one each arm + each side of neck sprays creates a steroid version of this basically delicate scent: sharp, synthetic, overbearing. Not to fear though, the explosion only lasts a while, on my skin anyway, and the gorgeous gourmand softness returns after an hour or so. This is a very satisfying solution to my quest for a grown-up oriental vanilla/powder fragrance, and I think we'll be happy partners on many days and nights :-) I know La Vie Est Belle is pretty much expensive but it's worth buying. For me, this is love at first sniff :) Heaven in a bottle. If you love gourmand fragrance, don't hesitate to buy this one. I wish I would be able to buy all la vie est belle line products (I want to try eau de legere and edt) Se não o melhor perfume para mulheres... sexy, atraente, envolvente, gourmand, aroma com classe , jovem e elegante, madura e casual...La Vie Est Belle é o trunfo perfect de Lancome!! é febre por aqui no Brazil, ainda bem que é caro por aqui e isso confere um tanto de exclusividade...perfume noturno e festivo : jantar romantico ou familiar ; passeios diurno em momentos com clima ameno. Fixação e projeção são ótimos !! I can guarantee you that if you wear this perfume that everybody will turn there head and say you smell good what is that? Its strong but it's heavenly!! What i detect is dark rose dipped into a dark wine sugar syrup, and spritzt with a tiny bit of lime. The lasting power of this perfume is worth every dollar, euro that you invested in this:) Agree: waaay too heavy. You just have to use it in "small" doses, preferably only one, at least an hour before getting out. Otherwise, you are at risk to seem un-lady-like :-))) I bought it because I really LOVE (!!!) the dry-down notes and because my daughter (9y old) adores it (and uses it :-)), as it smells like candy. Lovely base notes, again ! Congratulations for that ! Oh ! And of course, congratulations also for the silage and longevity - despite its "heaviness", these are really how they are supposed to be ! Kind of "like the old times", when quality and generosity were first priorities. _/_ This is the sweetest perfume I've got. But it is spicy enough for me to like it, and it still smells mature. It was surprising that it was so long lasting. Not as long lasting on my skin but I noticed on a jacked that the scent is stuck on it for days! And I don't have that with any other scent. Lancome – "La Vie Est Belle” 05.28.2015 The opening of La Vie Est Belle is magnificent. It begins with a citrusy and creamy/sugary combination which is so lovely that I kept smelling my wrist as it created to me a feeling of warm, sweet euphoria with a touch of lemony zest. After a few minutes, the citrus note disappears and the fragrance transforms into a lovely, creamy, well rounded sweetness which reminds me of cotton candy. At this point, I remembered myself as a young girl when my parents were taking me to the children’s entertainment theme parks and they were getting me cotton candy and dumplings soaking in maple syrup with sprinkled cinnamon. Those were delights of true childhood bliss. Later on, on my skin, the scent develops a subtle smokey note (which I have not seen described by other fragranticans… skin chemistry amazes me.) So, the end result on me is a creamy, sugary smokiness so delightful yet earthly. Because it creates a feeling of creamy warmth to me, I can imagine this fragrance as suitable for autumn and winter months. Ofcourse, it can be worn all year round. I do understand that La Vie Est Belle may be perceived as a mass pleaser however, in my view, the fragrance is popular simply because it is very good for its price, from an acclaimed brand and it has an excellent longevity (as with most Lancome perfumes.). I do like it and I recommend it. Enjoy the (good) perfume quest! Regards Josephine I really wanted to hate this, as it's very popular with "basic white girls," much the same as Flowerbomb and Marc Jacobs Daisy, etc. They are the 'pumpkin-spice-lattes" and "Ugg-Boots" and "Black-NorthFace-Fleece-Jackets" of perfume. The Julia Roberts ads repelled me, and I never gave it a chance, shrugging it off as a scent for the people of vanilla middle class suburbia. However, I received a sample in a sephora kit that I bought because I knew it'd give me a $15.00 discount over buying the 30ml of TF Black Orchid at full price, and after leaving it stashed away in a drawer and having long forgotten about it, I saw it the other day and decided to give it a spritz. Now this is on my want list because it's a really nice gourmand, and if I get it, I'll keep it my guilty pleasure / dirty secret, and only wear it at home. Luckily it's such a longevity & sillage monster that I'll likely not be able to finish my 1.2 ml manufacturer's sample for quite a while. To all lovers of La Vie Lancome is launching a new version called LVEB Intense apparently deeper and more gourmand than original EDP with notes of tuberose ylang ylang and nut accord. I love LVEB and all its versions and can't wait till this new one is out I was out perfume hunting yesterday and this one caught my eye, mostly because of the hype surrounding this fragrance, and because of that I had wanted to try it for quite some time now. Well, I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but this has to be one of the most rank stank nasty mess of a perfume. I will be the first to admit that I'm not into vanilla type scents, nor patchouli! I wanted to see what the hype was about, hoping to leave there with this " ahhhh now I understand why everyone loves it" feeling, but what I felt was relief to not have to smell it anymore. Maybe my chemistry doesn't mingle well with this fragrance.....I tried it on my skin AnD my scarf and sadly all it was for me was an overbearing, over powering powdery patchouli mess. It honestly reminded of a cheap Avon perfume from the late 80s to early 90s! Sorry ladies but this is a huge miss for me ! A lot have been told on this forum about the overpowering and obtrusive presence of this perfume. First I was afraid, because I’m working tech support on ICT department, my only colleagues are male. They can be super touchy about too much feminine stuff:) But then, you know, when you pay a lot of money for a perfume, you can not just expect a “brand name” but longevity too! It should be perfectly normal definition for a perfume: extreme longevity and sillage. The rest should be called eau de toilette. La Vie est Belle is sweet, but it is not just plain candy, black current gives it a light breeze against any cloying sweetness. At the end of day I get some bitter-ish impression which I like very much and of course the patchouli just stays and stays. In all I’m very satisfied with La Vie est Belle and none of my co-workers were ever complaining about it ! By the time LVEB came out, I had given up on finding my signature fragrance. Everything was either too sweet, or too mature for my age, or already taken as a signature by someone I know. But LVEB came in for the rescue. It was, in my opinion, perfect. Its a gourmand and yet unique and complex, which is hard to find these days if we're being honest. One of those scents that you can just tell is expensive. Lancome really hit the nail on the head with this one. Of all the perfumes I would try, this is the only one that made my mom ask "what DO you have on???" and I got so many compliments. So i adopted it as my signature. It really does make me happy and always makes me smile every time I put it on. But as luck would have it (and as many have lamented below) EVERYONE wears this. My friends loved it on me so much, in fact, they all bought it. No, really. It seems as though every time I talk to someone, it always gets to "What do you have on? I love it!" and bam its purchased and done. Even the few people I know that didn't buy it for themselves said they were going to buy it for their mothers. So before long, everyone I knew either had adopted this as their signature or had a bottle they used on special occasions or had bought it for a loved one. Even in lecture, i can smell it around. Sigh :( i put in so much effort to find this perfume I feel robbed sometimes hahah. For now, I honestly can't find anything better (flowerbomb is similar, but not as mature imo and its even more popular than this good grief). The search continues. I must say I am pleasantly surprised how much I like this! I've been obsessed lately with sweet, feminine gourmands and modern chypre florals. It may be typical, but I love these kind of fragrances lately. They may not be 'masterpieces' but they suit my personality which isn't dark or mysterious. I can appreciate fragrances if they are simply pretty and smell nice, whatever the current trend is. I love and appreciate perfumes like Chanel No. 5, and I also love perfumes like La Vie est Belle. Compared to Flowerbomb, La Vie est Belle is more complex and has more layers. I find it to be almost just as sweet, but the iris, pear, and blackcurrant offsets the sweetnesss and gives it a tart-fruit edge. Whereas on my skin with Flowerbomb, all I smell is the super sweet sugary orchid and nothing else. I don't get the tea and spicy notes at all, although I have noticed it on others. Compared to Armani Si, La Vie est Belle is sweeter and the blackcurrant disappears by the mid to end notes and is replaced by a gourmand praline, while the Si remains fruity all the way to the drydown, and is also more woodsy. Both Si and La Vie est Belle have significantly better lasting power than Flowerbomb. If you want a lighthearted, SWEET, yet beautiful feminine fragrance I would recommend this. If you are looking for a complex masterpiece that is groundbreaking and unique and niche then I probably wouldn't bother to try this. I got a sample of this with my Sephora order and didn't read up on the notes or anything. I just love perfumes and figured it'd be another good-smelling, but nothing special fragrance. In fact it sat in my bedside drawer for probably a month before I sprayed it. But oh my god, the first time I smelled it, I was in love. It was surprisingly unique. It had depth, but with a faint light sugar sweetness. When I looked up the notes, it made perfect sense why I loved it so much...vanilla and patchouli are some of my favorite notes and I'm a floral girl as well. I feel like this could very well be my new signature scent. I know I really love a perfume when I keep wanting to go back for another spritz. Some perfumes are somewhat forgettable and unless you put them in plain sight, you forget to use them. This is one I truly savor. I'm so jealous of everyone that says they live this fragrance. The descriptions sound beautiful. HOWEVER. On me, the fragrance smells NOTHING like Flowerbomb, or anything sweet. It's just powder. I misted once, and on first sniff, my reaction was a very loud "WHY WHY WHY UGH NO" in my otherwise empty apartment. Bummer. About 5 days ago I was at the airport killing time, so of course I decided to try on some perfume. I tried on a lot of perfumes and I must have sprayed La Vie est Belle on my wrist at some point (it is a scent that I knew from before). Lo and behold, 5 days on, the scent simply will NOT go away from the little thread bracelet I have on my wrist. At first I enjoyed it very much. Everything else simply went away but this one stayed and stayed, and with good sillage too. I took a shower and it was still there. I even started to look into a bottle. Then... Well... I went to bed, woke up, and it was still there. I went about my day, put on other perfume, cooked, washed my hands, did all sorts of things... Still there. I took another shower... Still there. I scrubbed the bracelet with soap, put on other perfume specifically on the bracelet...Still there... I am not sure this is a good thing at this point. Use La Vie est Belle as your only perfume and it would work great. I can see why this is so popular, there is a very universally wearable feel to it. The notes are very well blended and no note stands out too much, except maybe the sweetness level. It is very very sweet, too much for me to love it. Blonde, brunette, redhead, young or older, this works on most. It smells classy, playful, feminine, and lightly sexy. It's really strong, a single spray is overwhelming my apartment as I type this. It is giving me a headache, but occasionally I get this delicious whiff of some kind of creamy sweet dessert. Not sure if I'll purchase a full bottle, but I do enjoy the scent. Maybe i'll test out the edt next. I don't know why I'm seeing all these comments complaining about how popular or overused this perfume is. I've never smelled it on ANYONE and now that I've finally gotten to try a tiny sample bottle I can say with confidence - that I'm sold! Most definitely an autumn beauty that has a drydown *almost* working in this spring weather. The initial spritz instantly reminded me of Dior Mademoiselle and my heart sank. I already have that lovely but it's way too patchy for me most days so I generally avoid it. However, after a few minutes I could NOT stop sniffing my wrist! What a gem! Definitely sweeter than the Dior and the patch wasn't making me nauseated the way it usually does. In fact, I'd call the patchouli subtle to the point I can hardly detect it! I'm would also allude to the beautiful Sofia (Vergara) as some of the notes remind me of the other. Although I'd say the first hour smells very floriental spicy on me, the drydown is amazing - creamy and dreamy, two of my favorite characteristics in a fragrance and certainly not what I was expecting. I might ask for a full bottle of this rare jewel for upcoming Mother's Day. I'd like to keep a little of this juice around for quite awhile. ;) La vie est Belle = Common as Muck! My sister, my mother, my grandmother, my neighbour, my neighbours aunt, who knows - possibly even my neighbour's dog! all seem to be wearing La vie est Belle this year. Yawn. Why would you want to smell like every other female on the planet? Your boyfriend/husband smells this on you and thinks 'this smells like my mother/grandmother/sister' How horrendous is that? I can't think of anything worse!!!!!!! Why would you want this? I realise that most commercial perfumes aren't going to be entirely 'unique', but this one takes the biscuit for being mind-dropingly generic and overly popular. Sits back and waits for lack of balloons :-) Ooooo, I think I've found a new signature scent! I was crazy about Armani Si but now I'm in love with La Vie! Omg this smells soooo good and sweet. I wore it to bed last night and I could still smell it on me this morning. This is a very long-lasting and loud fragrance which is right up my alley. I will have to say that I like this more than Angel. I will def purchase another bottle of this or maybe I will try L'Absolu next. From the first sniff I fall in love with it mmmmmmm just like the dream. But as usual I take a long time before I decide to buy a fragrance or not, and after only one month I bought this amazing lovely sophisticated perfume. I'm so happy looool ^_* Before purchasing and spraying the actual juice on my skin, I had only smelled magazine samples of La Vie Est Belle and sprayed the juice onto paper at the department store. I know; I know. Shame on me. Must test on the skin. Nevertheless, this story does not have a terrible ending. On paper, I thought that La Vie was a bit too rich for my taste. I have no sweet tooth when it comes to food and not much of a sweet nose when it comes to fragrance. While pure candy on paper, La Vie did come off as a mature, sophisticated confection, rather than a tweenie twinkie, so I kept an open mind. Then I found a price on a 2.5 oz bottle that I just couldn't pass up. Worst case, I could have made my money back. On me...WHOA, PATCH!!! On my skin, the patchouli is so strong that it balances out the sweetness and then some. In fact, a part of me wishes that the patch weren't quite so strong on me, as I wouldn't mind a bit more of the praline I smelled on paper shining through. Overall, I didn't love it on paper or skin, but I liked it on both. Unless you find a helluva deal, try it on your skin first. I dislike La Vie Est Belle, despite being a big fan of gourmands. Definitely a no-no for summer or overdoing in office environments. I know a few co-workers who use this, and all I get is this cloying cherry coke smell. Not to mention that these women would never go near the teensy celebrity gourmands-some of which I like-, but I suppose it’s okay and “sophisticated” when Lancome does it, instead of Ms. Spears. Lately, I gravitate more towards clean, shampoo-like scents. I even love the shampoo-like quality of Lancome Hypnose. I really hope this new trend of dark and sugary scents will go away soon. It's a shame but I smelled it only a few weeks ago. I dunno but I didn't like the bottle and Julia Roberts it's not my favorite actress, so La Vie Est Belle dropped out of my life so far. But I tried her, because I saw that it's so divisive and I love if a perfume is divisive because for me it means that it's unique and it has an own individuality. But LVEB... It's like pink sugar's more expensive version... It's just sweet and sweet, like a bad quality chocolate which is full synthetic cocoa. I don't like her, I don't wanna feel her... I have to congratulate the perfumers on their realistic praline accord. This is sweeter than scents that were considered so saccharine in the early 2000's that only teens would wear them, and more like actual milk chocolate praline than I would have thought it was possible for a perfume to be. I detect no florals at all, which surprises me as I could pick them up even in Flowerbomb, and found it cute even if I obviously wasn't the target market. But with the ever-gorgeous Julia Roberts fronting this scent, I am clearly in the target market for La Vie Est Belle, which feels weird. Am I really so out of step? Do lots of my 35-45 age cohort want to smell like this? Heaven knows I love soft praline. In Denmark, Anthon Berg sell the damnable crack in pure bar format, euphemistically termed 'nougat' – it's basically what's inside Guylian seashell chocolates, though of much higher quality. But the thing is, you cannot eat a whole bar of it, no matter how desperate a chocoholic you are. After a bit, it's just too unctuous, too sugary-smooth, too much lever-pressing, gimme-gimme-gimme concentrated dopamine release. The poor sated brain needs a rest. Maybe even a wedge of chilled orange, or a whiff of mown grass. But La Vie Est Belle has no mercy, she is adorable and tireless, and will keep on pressing that praline-coated lever until you swoon with pleasure, or run for the nearest exit. I don't think there's much in-between with this one. Very velvety, as pink as the color of the perfume itself. Yes, La Vie Est Belle EDP is all the happy, feminine bliss it promised to be. Initial spray is strong. Dry down has limited stages. Praline sets this apart from Flowerbomb. There is also something fresh and sour in La Vie Est Belle (perhaps the currant) that makes this fruitier than Flowerbomb. But people love to compare the two, and I see why. Balanced, classy, sexy in a bright, bubbly afternoon way. Patchouli is cleaned up to be part of the bouquet. Very composed yet blooming with blushing floral sweetness. I like it very much. Impressive staying power on my skin. Lasted two days on the cuff of my jacket. I wish there was a way to denote that you love a fragrance on others, but hate it on yourself. A coworker of mine wears La Vie Est Belle and it smells absolutely magical on her. It's one of the few perfumes I've asked about on someone else. I bought some hoping to replicate the magic for myself, but on me it just turns into a sugarbomb, and not in a great way. Syrupy sweet, to the point of a toothache. I never will understand how it can smell so great on other people and be a dud on me. Oh well. It's not you Belle, it's me. :( One of the best gourmands on the market, hands down. Wonderful connection between the vanilla base and the blackcurrent and pear top notes. This is the work of a master perfumer. Some points: -Makes an good signature scent (but be warned, it's pretty popular. If you're looking for the wonderfulness of La Vie est Belle but you also want something unique that not everyone is wearing, try "Chinatown" by Bond No. 9! In terms of that fine gourmand quality it stands toe to toe with this one). -Very strong stuff. Heads will turn. This is a showstopper. -If wearing casually, a dab will do ya. Like, just a dab. -Winter, fall and maybe spring, but not summer. Way too heavy. -This is a "wedding" quality fragrance. Ideal for special and sentimental occasions. -In my opinion this can't be worn casually (unlike Chinatown which I suggested... Chinatown can be worn both casually and formally). Think of it as a treat. Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Jasmine, and Pear. Okay, now for someone who enjoys fragrances from L'OCCitane, Marc Jacobs, and Atelier Cologne, this just completely sounds strange to me. The combination of the powerful quartet... Enlighten me, Lancome. Ice skates. Probably heavily biased off the packaging of this perfume, I'm reminded of ice skates. I visit the skating rink quite frequently (and no, not because I'm the one skating and scraping up my feet and knees and all the other parts of my body I land on whenever I fall every second on the ice) and I'm very open to the crisp environment of the rink. Spill hot chocolate all over the rink's ice, completely obliterate the gym rooms, and this is what you get: "La vie est belle". Ah, yes. Life is beautiful, isn't it? Overall? A lovely leather paired with a dark chocolate note supported by the strong vanilla fragrance. Just add the bitterness of a pear, the calming sensation of jasmine, and some punch with the blackcurrant. Lovely scent. What is it about this perfume that is just so GOOD? I feel as though I should dislike it on principle, but I can't help myself... I love it! I know La Vie est Belle gets criticized for being unoriginal, but it's easy to see why it's so popular. I have to admit, the opening is a little heavy on the pear for me, but I am never, EVER disappointed by the drydown. It projects (but it's not overwhelming if you're light on the trigger... 1-2 sprays is probably plenty), it lasts all day and then some, and it's absolutely delicious and satisfying. La Vie est Belle evokes chocolate-covered strawberries for me. I actually don't get a lot of patchouli on my skin. It's largely a nutty, buttery chocolate with fruity/floral undertones. It is unapologetically happy, youthful, carefree, and high-quality to boot, and I think that's why I like it so much. Kumquat2.... strange... My box was sealed and wrapped from an ebay seller and it also said L'Eau de Parfum, which I assumed meant it was a French box, rather than a box produced for the US? Mine is not the Legere either. My LVEB is a huge sillage bomb, sweet, and amazing.... so maybe yours is fake? I hate to say it.... but it's a crazy heavy perfume. I have a winter sweater that I rarely wash because I wear it over layers, and it's my LVEB sweater because 2 weeks later my scent is still on there. It's crazy with lasting power. I use about 2-3 sprays for all day powerhouse sniffing. It's very fruity, powder, patchouli, and sweet at first and then dries down to a more soft gourmand with vanilla. I looove Jimmy Choo, but LVEB isn't a watered down JC.... more like JC is a watered down La Vie. :( I hate to be the bearer of bad news. :( Can you return yours? What is your climate like? I'm freezing cold this winter (below 0F) and I find it wears best in the cold, but... haha... I haven't tried it in summer yet (got my first bottle this past fall). I purchased La Vie Est Belle when it first came out in my country and used to love this. Over the years I started to smell this one everywhere I went. Today I absolutely hate this one. Not really because I think it smells simply disgusting, it's a sweet scent. But boy is it generic. Everyone, and I mean everyone everywhere, wears this. I think it's ridiculous grown women are still wearing this, to me LVEB smells like a pile of nauseating candy cotton. I don't know what my problem with this one is exactly, but I kinda feel overly-stimulated when smelling this. I respectfully disagree with the detractors. This stuff is incredible. I received a sample last Christmas as part of a Sephora gift set and this was the full size bottle I elected to purchase. AMAZING. For reference, I still consider Obsession to be my signature scent. I also love Spellbound, Prada Candy, and Organza Indecence. I am an Oriental/Gourmand lady. La Vie Est Belle is in my top five favorites for life. If you have any doubts about it, your local Lancome counter will provide you with a sample vial or two. Try it, you will love it! Who cares if every other woman is wearing it? There's a reason for that. Men go nuts over it ... and I am over 40! :) This stuff is Flowerbomb but with better lasting power and a kinder price tag, in my opinion. Just lovely. What can I say about this little gem? It's absolutely DELICIOUS! "La Vie Est Belle" smells like an expensive gourmand, yummy but elegant at the same time. Although it's supposed to have fruits at the top (black currant and pear) I don't get a fruity vibe from this one; to me, it's all about the praliné, joined by the vanilla and the tonka bean. The patchouli is probably what makes this perfume really strong, but it's not your classic "earthy" patchouli, which to me can smell a bit masculine sometimes, there's nothing masculine about this fragance! I don't get much of a powdery feeling from the iris, and I also don't get a lot of jasmine, so it's more of a gourmand than a floral to me Overall, this is a sweet, elegant, feminine gourmand that young girls and grown women will enjoy equally in my opinion. There's also something really sensual about this scent, this will make you smell like something people would like to eat... Indeed, life is beautiful when you're wearing this perfume ! I feel crazy for liking this. Everyone on here seems to hate it (rightfully so), but this perfume smells so frustratingly good on me. This is NOT the type of fragrance I ever seek out or wear, but I tried it on once at work and something about it piqued my interest. It is quite strong, so one (two at most) spray is enough to exude a comfortable small cloud of scent. I think as long as it's not over-applied, it's an enjoyable and "unique" gourmande. I use that term loosely because while it does have a somewhat unexpected not-quite-fruity sparkling quality at the beginning which I find cute and fun, it is at its core a sugary-almond-vanilla-patchouli dessert of a scent. It is quite a departure from the rest of Lancome's usually more elegant/"classic" perfume range so I can understand why this was not received well by many Lancome and fragrance fanatics alike. In the end, I think if this was made by any brand other than Lancome, and if they turned down the sillage a bit (the EdP Legere?), it would be a better-liked perfume. Maybe not loved, but certainly more enjoyable. For now I'll keep begrudgingly liking this sugar bomb of a scent. ;) It's been forever since I wanted to review this fragrance but couldn't because I couldn't make up my mind over this one! Do I love it? Do I hate it? I have to say it's a little bit of both! Depending on my mood. But since it became my mother's fragrance, I tend to like it more! La vie est belle is too strong. Too much in your face and too common! Arcade blox has this point perfectly covered... It becomes frustrating when 8/10 women you meet are wearing this! A fragrance's success for me isn't measured by how much it sells but rather by how much debate it cause and this one mysteriously manages to do both! I am still on the defensive with this fragrance, but I can tolerate it! Unlike flowerbomb and bonbon! For me it's a chocolate/vanilla fruity perfume wrapped in a huge note of patchouli and powdery Iris! I don't know what more to say! It's another powdery gourmand copied to no end while being in itself a copy of other older fragrances like Angel. So... IDK... Try it... But chances are you already have tried it and you are now wearing it ! A man opinion. Well, the fragrance itself is wonderful, It's sweet, strong, well blended, just a lovely perfume. The bad part (and maybe the reason of so many dislikes) the fragrance is waaaay to strong, sweet and MAINSTREAM (All my female relatives has at least one bottle, and one of the fanciest stores in my town smells a lot like this). This is not a love/hate fragrance, you can't hate it, it's only irritating and common. Hypnose on steroids. I told myself I wouldn't buy this but I couldn't forget the scent. It is classy and definitely a perfume that professes, "I am center of attention! I knoooooow it is impossible to ignore me!" I would have just as well bought the Hypnose again except fragrances run away from my skin within 2 minutes so a heavy hitting perfume like this ends up more like body mist on me anyway. The only other fragrances I can compare this to (and my nose is inexperienced) is if Jimmy Choo locked lips with Hanae Mori and breathed into each other. Jimmy Choo has similar spiciness and Hanae Mori's level of sweetness is comparable to La Vie. I have not worn this a whole day yet but from what I can tell (because the paper strip smells exactly as it did three hours ago when I first sprayed it) the sillage and longevity is going to be gratifying for me. I will test tomorrow and start off with only one spray and go from there. Oh, and my complaint is the bottle, although nice, is such a waste of material. Yes, I hug trees every so often. EDIT: Finally wore this for the first time today. I sprayed once in the back of my neck and once down my chest under my shirt. Soooooo glad I didn't spray anymore. This thing has monster sillage and longevity. I'm very satisfied that I left the house with it on at 8:30am and can still smell it at noon, which is rare! I think this fragrance is beautiful but it can be easily offensive if oversprayed so please be light-handed with it! Less is More with this baby. I went to Macys last year expecting to get Tresor but I was having a hard time finding it. When I finally found it, I was not into it. It did not smell like the sample I tried and the woman at the counter suggested La Vie Est Belle. I FELL IN LOVE!! It is SO hardcore sweet on me, I cannot wear a lot because it not only chokes me but everyone else. It is sickly sweet. It is one of my ultimate favorites. I absolutely love La Vie Est Belle.... its sweet and beautiful, it lasts on me for around 8 hours, so its perfect for work, with no need to re-apply at lunchtime like I frequently do with others. I walked into the kitchen to make a drink, then walked out,, then went back in 5 minutes later and I could still smell where I had been previously. Its a perfume I can smell on me for the whole time I wear it, others I have DO smell if I hold up my wrist and sniff, or if I ask my husband if he can still smell it, but often I cant smell it after 2-3 hours.....but LVEB I can smell the whole time... I just spray behind each ear, and each wrist....so just 4 sprays, and this lasts all day. its such a beautiful fragrance so I'm more than happy to smell it all day. Browsing the fragrance counters, I was swooped upon by a young sales clerk. Could she help me? Perhaps. I like spicy orientals and chypres. Oh, she said, then you'll love this! Over to the La Vie est Belle display. Hmmmmm. I came home with testers. Far too sweet for me, but it is fairly complex, dries down powdery, and the sillage! Heavens! I left a tester on my home desk and the entire room carried the fragrance for over a week ! Patchouli, orange blossom, iris, black currant, toffee... am I describing La Vie Est Belle or Flowerbomb? It's a bit beyond similar, its almost the same. LVEB could be a sheer or summer version of the original Flowerbomb. It doesn't feel like it belongs in the Lancome House. Who could be too surprised though because so many including Chanel and Dior have done this sticky sweet floral patchouli punch, but was Lancome successful? The pros: The dry down is softer and more floral than others like it, it wears nicely on the skin. If you haven't tried similar scents like Flowerbomb (the twin) Coco Mademoiselle (the mature muskier version) Miss Dior Cherie (the sensual floral version) or Jimmy Choo (my personal favorite)... you are probably in love with LVEB and you've found your inner sweet girl. Enjoy it :) I like this so much better than Flowerbomb. Flowerbomb did smell really good & it lasts a long time, but it just had this odd smell to it. The best way I can describe it is a bottle of vanilla flavored milk that has soured. However La Vie Est Belle is just perfect. It smells yummy & very sweet, but it's also kind of mature with a very nice orange blossom smell to it. It's not juvenile like Aquolina Pink Sugar or Velvet Sugar from Bath & Body Works. It has a sort of clean smell in the background while still mainly being a sweet dessert treat. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I like this way better than Britney Spears Fantasy! I've worn Fantasy since junior high & I never expected to find a better gourmand than it, until now! Compared to this Fantasy smells synthetic & plasticky. I'm officially replacing it with La Vie Est Belle!:) Update: I'm also really loving the way it works with my skin chemistry. It smells like sweet bubble gum on my skin! I've been wearing the rollerball & even if I apply just a tad on the inside of my elbows it projects so far that you'd think I applied at least four sprays of the actual perfume bottle. A masterpiece from Lancome - one of my favourites and indeed my signature. A sweet and delectable sugary burst that won't give you diabetes. The initial scent is something of a fizzing sweetness, however there is a smoky undertone which complements this beautifully and stops it from being a nasty, sickly train wreck - think rich creme brulee. It develops into a comforting burst of chocolate and patchouli with a hint of flora. The drydown is a creamy, warm vanilla that smells divine on the skin. Sillage and staying power are absolutely excellent - the scent of this perfume will fill a small room, even if you don't apply it in said room, and it lasts all day - no need to re-spray. Expect lots of compliments, this one seems really popular with a lot of people! It's also versatile - one can wear it for work/school without smelling too imposing or obnoxious, and it would also make a great night-time perfume. Last year, when I first smelled this fragrance, I was on my journey to learning about fragrances. Then, I hadn't traveled much outside the world of Prada Candy and other SERIOUSLY sweet fragrances. So when I smelled this one then, there was something about it that instantly turned me off and made me think "older". A little over a year later, now that my nose has matured on fragrances, and I have smell TONS of scents.... I am finding that I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE with this scent. The reason it smelled semi-older to me was due to the powdery iris. I had in my mind that powdery represented a more older range of women (probably due to the scented powder that my grandmother still uses). HOWEVER, I never really gave this scent any thought past the iris. Now, I have worn it a couple days and after the iris plays down (about 10 minutes) a sweet concoction starts to really emerge! However, there is still just enough blend of iris, patchouli, and berries to keep it from being complete sickly sweet like some other scents. Its very layered and intriguing! I see a lot of people who describe this one as cough syrup or sickly sweet, but no! If you wan sickly sweet go with Brittney Spears Fantasy or Pink Sugar. Those are straight sweet with nothing to balance them out. La Vie Est Belle IS NOT LIKE THAT! It is sophisticated, elegant, and sexy! IT IS PERFECT! I can spritz this on at night before I go to bed and still smell it in the morning! Likewise, I can spray it on at the beginning of the day and still smell it vaguely about 7pm and PERFECTLY on my clothes. Longevity- 10 Sillage- 9 Packaging- 10 I had zero desire to try this perfume based on the advertising campaign. But I was in sephora once and sprayed this on a whim based on how beautiful the bottle was. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. On me this scent is heavy and warm and comforting. Almost like a floral cake! It's thick and sweet and feminine and soft all at once. This is a cuddling up at night fragrance for me. La Vie Est Belle is a very foodie scent, like strawberry blinis with champagne. It's great for the holidays. On me it sits very close to the skin, which I appreciate if I'm going to be in a crowd. It doesn't last very long though. I was a perfume lover so i bought this scent yesterday for my collection and extremely loved it. La Vie Est Belle is sweet, powdery with every note blends together so well. I can say that patchouli, praline and iris are really stand out, it smells expensive and similar to Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. Longevity is absolutely amazing (12 hours+) and sillage is heavy. Believe me, Lancome will never make you disappoint! P/s: +Packaging 9.5/10 +Bottle 9.5/10 +Scent 10/10 +Longevity-Sillage 10/10 La Vie Est Belle is my all time favourite perfume. My boyfriend got me it as a present after his sister-in-law wore it as her 'Wedding Perfume' and I instantly fell in love with it. I'm not very good at describing notes but this smells amaaazing! So sweet and powdery but not sickly. I constantly get compliments and people asking what perfume I'm wearing when I wear this... Some people would consider this a night time perfume because it is strong and has amazing longevity (I still smell it the next day!) but I wear it during the day too because I love it so much - For sure my signature scene. Well done Lancome ! Heavens, this is SWEET! This is generally not the type of perfume I would ever wear however, I made a mistake and allowed the sales woman to spritz it on my forearm when i was looking for a gift for my friend who loves sweet fragrances. I instantly felt sick; I think I washed my hands about 10 times just to make the smell go away. Unsuccessfully! So, when it comes to longevity, you can count on this one! :) The truth is, my friend, the sweet-fragrance admirer, said that she could not wear it either (she picked Aqua di Gioa in the end, do I need to say more?! :D ). I can detect some qualities of a good fragrance 'tho, regardless of my personal taste, but I doubt that a fragrance with so many sweet notes can actually make a storm in the market. I'm not even sure if it's caramel that suffocates, I actually think that at least 4 scents create this overwhelming and exhausting sweetness. Jasmine is, imho, quite strong although well hidden behind the more aromatic beans, vanilla is strong but destroyed by similar scents, I'm not sure I can actually detect tonka beans but I know they're similar to vanilla and very sweet as well and then, to all this, you have caramel, berries and pears. All locked by pachouli. :)) Like I said, if you like very, very, very sweet fragrances, you'll probably like this one and you'll certainly want to like it because it lasts forever on the skin. I have some "love stories" with Lancome perfumes and I was very intrigued what the "La Vie Est belle" is like. Unfortunately it was "no go" from the very first minute. I tried EDT version, which is lighter than EDP, but still, it was like a knock-out. The scent is heavy, very heavy, even offensive. It was one huge sweet cloud threatens to suffocate me. This perfume should be tested on your skin. It will not be a good idea to buy it blind. This perfume smells like marshmallows dipped in caramel and then covered in sugar. It's extremely sweet, probably the sweetest fragrance I've smelled. It's TOO sweet and I like sweet. It's headache inducing and nearly makes your teeth hurt from it's sweetness. It's also incredibly popular--it's everywhere--which is another downside for me. I don't want to smell like 8 in 10 women. Having said that, if you like SUPER sweet perfumes (think Pink Sugar on steroids) and don't mind that it's so common, I definitely recommend checking it out! It lasts forever and has great silage. The bottle is also really beautiful; even more so in person. I love the little scarf around the neck. :) The French perfumes are always the best! La Vie Est Belle is very sweet & gourmand, but it's also clean & sophisticated. It smells a lot like Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. If you like Flowerbomb you'll like this! I'd rate this a 10/10 ! La Vie Est Belle is very Beautiful. Love this perfume, Lancome makes wonderful fragrances. Tresor will always continue to be my Signature Scent, but La Vie Est Belle is right behind it. Thanks Lancome for making Exceptional Quality fragrances !!! La Vie Est Belle doesn't necessarily need another review, but I can't help myself. This is a love for me, which is quite a contradiction coming from someone who can't stomach syrupy sweet scents. LVEB is sweet, yes, crossing into gourmand land, but it's surprisingly not sickening. Not sure if the patchouli is the helper there. The praline is stunning and so creamy. It reminds me of my favorite Blue Bell ice cream, Pecan, Pralines and Cream. Heavy yet smooth. Delicious! Longevity is 12+hours, longer on clothes, and projection is great. It's a thick sweet scent that still allows you to wear it - it doesn't wear you. As a side note, if a comparison helps, I couldn't wear Aquolina Pink Sugar, and Flowerbomb just didn't work for me. All right. I am going to come out of the the closet and confess that I truly, madly, deeply dislike this perfume. There, I said it. This is one of the most exagerrated perfumes I have ever come across. Even a tiny drop is painfully straightforward, so much in your face; it's really hard for me to bear it. Wearing La Vie est Belle is like waving a huge banner saying: "Currant! Patchouli! Caramel!" No room for a mystery with this one - LVEB is a pure perfume overstatetment. The composition is awkward, the notes blend poorly, it smells like two or three scents layered; shaken, not stirred. I find it loud and cacophonous. I love this fragrance! I love sweet scents, but am not a fan of patchouli, so was worried that the patchouli note in this would ruin it for me. However, I do not dislike the patchouli in this! It balances the sweetness perfectly and neither the patchouli or sweetness is overwhelming. I usually do not like to wear the same perfume every day, but since I got this perfume, I've been wearing it every day and am loving it! I have never found this scent to be too powerful, yet it does last all day! Overall, this is a beautiful, enticing fragrance with excellent silage and longevity. Anyone who enjoys sweet scents should test this one out ! I'm going to get hate for this, but this fragrance isn't anything special. It's your typical fruity/sweet fragrance with a designer name on it and Julia Roberts promoting it. The only thing that seperates it from the others is that it isn't a celebrity perfume and that it is REALLY expensive. It has amazing sillage and longevity, but it isn't anything memorable like the other designer fragrances. If you like very SWEET perfumes, you must try this. If you like subtle, floral, aquatic perfumes, then this isn't your thing. Every time I come back and try to test this fragrance again, I remind myself of why I never bothered to get it. It doesn't feel like a "perfume" to me the way Chanel Chance, Stella, Narciso Rodriguez for Her do. Most of my perfumes have some hint of floral in them, and enough of that floral element where I feel clean while wearing them. La Vie Est Belle smells stuffy, like I am bombarded with this foodie gourmand and I can't get any 'clean' perfume notes out of it. When I put even a little on all I smell is cake; birthday cake with sweet, rich frosting and candied fruits on top. I see the comparisons to Flowerbomb, but to me- I own and love flowerbomb because it feels cleaner on me, and I feel like Flowerbomb is less gourmand. It is my earl grey tea scent! I'm sure this perfume smells divine on many people, but my nose says I should be eating it, not smelling it. :) I have had this for quite some time but was reluctant to write a review, because I have found it very hard to discern the notes. I don't get fruit or lots of flowers, and I don't seem to be able to distinguish between the three layers of the pyramid. This perfume seems relatively linear, although the top and middle have a fruitier feeling to them than the drydown. La vie est belle is, to me, quite seamless. The notes I can tell apart are vanilla - tonka bean, creamy, luscious milk and malted chocolate, and almond. I am reminded of the pralines an aunt used to bring when she visited form Belgium, the ones with the creamy chocolatey filling. The composition is grounded with a "sterilized" patchouli. In the drydown, I also get a slight touch of iris. This fragrance is wonderfully enveloping. It is also a bit powdery and definitely sweet. In spite of its sweetness, I think this works equally well in cold as well as in hot weather. Tested this at shoppers drug mart today, on a whim. The bottle is much heavier than it looks. I like the design, its cute. The spray itself reminded me of flowerbomb, but not quite. There was a specific note in there I have smelt before and didn't enjoy. A single spray lasted the rest of the afternoon and after my shower. That single note was too much for me, it turned me off the perfume. I wouldn't buy this one, but maybe one in the same family of scents with patchouli. This one definitely smells expensive though, just not quite right for me. Btw, I have aquolina pink sugar sparks and prefer that. It's easier to stomache. La Vies Est Belle est un tres beau parfum ! It is absolutely adorable and so feminine. However, it is undeniably very much like Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb...much to a lot of people's delight because the latter is more pricey. La Vie Est Belle is such a soft, beautiful and delightful scent. I always get compliments when I wear it. Day or night. This eau de parfum, is more appropriate for the more mature woman though. It is long-lasting, pleasant and warm to the feel. Even the bottle design is so feminine. I like this scent a lot. @ Germany: I figure that your message was meant for me. I have used my mini now and by the end I found myself liking it more and more. I don't know if the patchouli just started to blend in better with my chemistry or whether the scents were not blended well enough and that the patchouli is heavier and thereby the prominent note I got from each spray and then fading more and more as I used the perfume. Maybe the scent just grew on me. I had a mini with no sprayer and I poured it into a new, empty mini bottle that had a sprayer. I sprayed two sprays on both of my knees. I could smell it all day and as mentioned previously, I found myself liking it more and more. I tend to spray a bit away from my nose so the fragrance is not constantly hitting my nose. For the time being, I don't feel the need to try the Legere version. But maybe I might someday. Well, this fragrance has grown on me. I generally liked it from the start but disliked the patchouli. It seems that the patchouli has grown weaker or that I've gotten more used to it so it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I think that the patchouli just might balance out the sweetness of La Vie Est Belle so that the impression of it does not become sickingly sweet. I still don't LOVE it though, but it is generally an alright fragrance that I wouldn't mind wearing another time. This is my second review.I had read here that it's good for summer days so I wore it today when I wanted to go out.Today was really hot and sunny and yeah...That was incredible. At first,Patchouli was annoying me but after an hour,I started getting warm.sweet praline and vanilla with just a hint of patchouli. These notes were full of positive energy. Again I had read here that 3 sprays were enough therefore I sprayed it three times and that was too much.My mother got angry with me cause wherever she was, she smelled LVEB.:D Honestly,Lancome fragrances has great longevity and sillage so there's no need to spray more than one.(esp this fragrance which is sillage and longevity monster) La Vie Est Belle is nice, but it feels very unbalanced to me. This lack of balance is mostly due to the difference in strength and projection in the first hour, and the remaining nine (or so) hours. On first spray LVEB is completely overpowering. It chokes you with an incredibly sweet cloud of patchouli and...maybe some kind of berry jam. When I smelled this I was not charmed; and this was honestly the reason I used to think I hated LVEB. After 30-60 minutes the heavy cloud dissipates, though, and leaves a rather nice, soft, Flowerbomb-ish type of skinscent. Sillage is not very noticeable anymore, and LVEB finally starts to feel like more of a private affair. This drydown is why I like La Vie Est Belle. Is it overly original? No, it is very clearly inspired by Flowerbomb and Jimmy Choo EdP and that 'new modern' supersweet patchouli accord you seem to smell everywhere nowadays. Is it the must-have of 2012-2013? Not in my opinion. Is it nice? Sure! Once you get to the drydown I think it is even nicer than Flowerbomb. I like La Vie Est Belle. I had hoped for a pure gourmand smell, but the Patchouli ruins the experience in my view. I think I would have loved it if LVEB had not had the strong Patchouli. Otherwise I think it's okay. It's quite sweet but also strong. After some time on my skin, I find that LVEB smells a bit burnt-sweet. This is not necessarily a bad thing. :) La Vie est belle is a Great perfume! It smells delicious and it last very long. I spray it today at 10 am and its still smelling on my shirt! I don't know if other people can smell it, but I smell do smell it. The only thing I was disappointed about this perfume is that it leaves the color of the perfume behind. I spray it on my white shirt , after spraying it my shirt was like I had dirt on it. But it's a Great perfume, I love it! ♥ UPDATE: I spray this perfume on my boyfriend, and the next day the perfume is still strong! This is a masterpiece, I love it ! It is strange that there is no quality research in this gourmand fragrance. I love fragrances that give mouth watering and I also have a sweet tooth but why this false pink think? There is no reference to a pastry or a recipe, it's just the smell emerging from a beets distillery. This is perfect for a rich woman who has never cooked in her life and for impressed her friends perfumes her kitchen with La Vie Est Belle to fool them that she herself makes a cake. The first impression is good whith some Iris, the rest is a chimical sugar deodorizer. I have to start off by saying this is one of the best smelling fragrances I have ever purchased for myself. The fruitiness of black currents and pear are definitely noticeable for a very brief time (which is good, with my preferences) before it starts turning into this delicious vanilla, sweet scent with patchouli. I love patchouli when paired with notes like vanilla and praline! I also love the floral notes, which are subtle enough to keep this a sweet fragrance, rather than a floral one. The notes blend so perfectly together, making this a well rounded perfume. This perfume also lasts a long time. All. Day. It is very strong, so one or two sprays is definitely enough, but it shouldn't overwhelm anyone's noses if common sense is used and you don't go spraying this like Windex. I disagree with reviewers who say this is just like Flowerbomb. It seems like any perfume that has sweet notes and patchouli gets labeled as another version of Flowerbomb, nowadays. Flowerbomb is a lovely perfume, but La Vie Est Belle is sweet and not nearly as floral as Flowerbomb (which is neither vanilla-y, or sweet). La Vie is definitely worth a try whether you have Flowerbomb already, or not - especially if you like the sweeter perfumes. This is truly a quality fragrance with a beautiful scent and lasting power. Flowerbomb has NOTHING on La Vie Est Belle. This far exceeds Flowerbomb in all aspects of a perfume. This is the "Bomb" that "Flowerbomb" isn't. This is a must have. I love it. Spicy sweet floral long lasting. I love La vie est belle and when I wear it I do feel that life is beautiful! I love vanilla scents and for the last few years my favourite has been L'instant de Guerlain. I am now thrilled to find a second favourite perfume. On me LVEB feels feminine, sophisticated and powdery floral with a warm, deep sexiness to it. When I wear it I have to keep breathing it in all the time. I actually don't like flowerbomb and don't think LVEB smells like it at all. I might have liked this perfume had it not smelled so irritatingly like Flowerbomb. The complete lack of originality, and the introduction of a sugary gourmand so late to the game, just irked me. I am guessing Lancome has a specific clientele, who never wavers outside of that brand, who find this new? Seems a pathetic grab for the gourmand market. Anyway, smells like flowerbomb with a dab of some outdated 80's perfume tossed in. C'mon Lancome, Really??? This perfume is so unoriginal! It is so sugary sweet! It is so nondescript. When I received a tiny sample I was certain on first sniff that THERE IS NO WOW FACTOR. There is the Snooze Factor, or actually, the toothache factor. I find it baffling that Julia Roberts is the spokesperson for this. She is not the warm fuzzy, over the top sweet type that this scent conveys. She is serious, removed from Hollywood, no nonsense type. (gorgeous as she is, no doubt). To me, this gives off a more a sweet young uncomplicated thing vibe, like for example, Anna Faris? Anyway, just not my cup of tea. Surprised this is Lancome and surprised that it is so widely popular. Glad I am not the only one with this mindset. Quel Dommage…. It s a very good scent for a make up brand like Lancome! I agree with both last reviews.La vie Est belle has a personality, you may like it or not, but its interesting. very sweet, really sticky. Amazing longevity! Súper sexy&femenine, Im thinking about buying La Vie Est Belle ! I agree with the previous review on the fact that It doesn't deserve to get a lot negative reviews. Because it's such a sweet and lovely perfume. I would describe it simply, "sweet-floral". It's true that it smells like Flowerbomb but it is sweeter-which is why I like it better. I smelled them at the same time. Basically, I applied one to my left arm and the other to my right. The key differentiative between them is sweetness of La Vie est belle. Flowerbomb is more floral. Besides that, this one's sillage and longevity is better than Flowerbomb. Interestingly, I sprayed Flowerbomb a little more but it didn't last as much as La vie est belle. However, it's not a huge difference. Something like an hour. La vie est belle is such a babe. It's like your boy friend shows up at your door with a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate. :) 8,5/10 La Vie est Belle is almost exactly the same scent as Flowerbomb (which everyone knows is really a misnamed gourmand) but much more smooth and beautiful. The patchouli is not too heavy-handed and the praline and vanilla notes round out the fruit beautifully. Something about Flowerbomb is much more synthetic and sharp. LVEB is a sophisticated gourmand that feels incredibly sexy and sultry. It's not cloyingly sweet but it has great longevity and makes for an excellent evening scent. Lancome finally nailed it. this is a really nice sweet fragrance. What I like about it vs my other favorites (flowerbomb, The One by Dolce and Gabbana)is that is intelligent and playful. as well as being feminine, powerful ,warm and sweet, it has an element of wit to it. Think Midnight Fantasy grows up. Julia Roberts is a good representation, It is a day and night scent for a intelligent, chic female. well done Lancome I don't know what kind of testing Lancome must have done to produce a scent that actually causes your thoughts to turn pink... yet I don't mind being so manipulated by lab technicians once in a while if the outcome is to laugh, swish my hair, and see myself as rosy. Yes, my thoughts turn pink, I wish I could explain. A bit disturbing, but kind of fun and I probably need it, since my thoughts and my humour can sometimes be quite dark. So, La Vie Est Belle has some magic, which is what I ask of a perfume. At Christmas, The Bay was selling a pack of five Lancome minis for $40. I bought it to give to the girls in my family. I didn't gift La Vie though. I nearly sold it online, but now I'm wearing it myself and... pink! To me it's mostly flowers and berries. I can easily smell orange blossom, iris, jasmine and rose, although this perfume doesn't celebrate them. They are sweetened up, and sweetness is the cause celebre here. Some people have told me I have a sweet smile, and I get called sweetie, so I figure what's the use of shying away from sweet scents! I notice the pear and praline but not as much as other notes. I think that if you want a sweet perfume that is a cheaper alternative to La Vie... you could try Love Etc. by The Body Shop. The pear is amped up and there are no berries, but it too has a sweet, "huggable" quality. You can also try A Lab On Fire's What We Do In Paris Is Secret. Pink Sugar doesn't have a similar scent profile, but it shares a similar mood. All of these perfumes are less expensive than La Vie. I don't to be so influenced by marketing, but I think I would have liked the perfume slightly better if the ad campaign had been different. I love Julia Roberts, but the ad itself looks waxen. The perfume isn't perfect, sometimes I notice a note in the drydown that doesn't gel... but its ok, because I wear La Vie Est Belle when I don't want to think much about perfume (shocking!) and just want to relax. Ultimately, I think La Vie is sort of a mishmash of nice shampoo scents with a perfume-y vibe that I actually like. It behaves really well in terms of longevity and sillage. Is this perfume or ether? Hm. Either way, it could probably knock a bull to the ground if the bottle got smashed. That being said, the fragrance itself isn't that bad. Ok, it's terribly sweet and strong, and it does smell an awful lot like Flowerbomb, BUT, the difference for me is that I could never wear Flowerbomb. It smells awful on me. La Vie Est Belle I can actually wear. And it smells nice. Longevity: About 3 years. Sillage: To Jupiters 67:th moon. La vie est diabetes Okay... I'm a sucker for sweet perfumes (especially with vanilla+patchouly combo) but this is just too much. It's simply just too sweet and I find it astounding that someone can actually wear this without vomiting every 5 minutes. I sprayed the tiniest amount on my hand and it really ruined the next few hours for me - even after trying to wash it the pungent synthetic sugariness simply kept on pushing through. I found the iris note to be particulary beautiful and this actually could've been be a very nice fragrance had they toned down the sweetness - and this is coming from an Angel and Poison lover. This is by far THE most cloying fragrance I've ever come across with. Additionally, how is this similar to Valentino Uomo???? You must be insane! Very offensive, really turned my stomach. Smell 2/10 x 2 Longevity / Potency 9/10 Versatility 5/10 Complexity 7/10 x2 Overall score 20/100 (-30 points for ruining my day) Not bad, if you like your perfumes super sweet. It smells like a freshly made praline -- warm and sweet and milky, all butter and sugar and vanilla. If "Cafe" smells like coffee "La Vie est Belle" is the little treat you have with it. Maybe they'd be good layered ! To me, this smells EXACTLY like Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, like EXACTLY. I can't seem to add it to Fragrantica using the "reminds me of" tool so I might not be the only one who has tried. It's a strong scent, beautiful, albeit linear. I loved Mademoiselle in college and can't seem to go back to wearing it because it is too tied to those years. This is a great option for those who want Mademoiselle as I'm assuming La Vie Est Belle must be at least a bit less expensive. I have V&R Flowerbomb and I don't see the similarity. The first words I would use to describe this scent are not "sweet" and "vanilla" as indicated since that makes it seem like a soft scent in my opinion and this definitely has a somewhat harsh/strong element to it. I am looking for a perfect vanilla scent and this is definitely not what I would call a vanilla scent. Very long-lasting and moderate to heavy sillage (more than I would care for probably). Dear Readers, I must say that this fragrance of Lancôme is very "pretty", it what to be expected by a classic high end French perfume, its definitely est belle !. The scent on its own: its a very lovely fruity musk, I don't detect anything gourmand since to be I cook various dishes and I don't really detect anything of that nature, but it is a lovely fragrance that does intrigues you enough to try it. On my chemistry : The perfume is extremely without a doubt feminine , soft, whispery and intimate. the fruit and aromatic came out a lot, and seeing the ingredients I see how the pears , oranges and patchouli made it a very happy but modest type of fragrance, definitely not for me . I recommend this for the office and definitely a day perfume, since its not heady or flamboyant , its not really a diva scent ,this belongs to feminine spirit that her beauty is a graceful , modest and intimate type, that has that air of sweetness that is inviting. Good gift for those who enjoy fine florals that are very soft like a whisper, this fragrance isn't like her luscious sister Tresor , La vie is belle , she's a good girl you can take home to mother types. Im very new to perfume today as I haven't purchased or worn perfume in about 10 years. Getting back its all new. I never heard of gourmand in a perfume until reading this site recently. I saw a paper tester in a magazine of La Vie Est Belle and rubbed it on. It has now lasted strongly for 12 hours which is amazing to me. I like the scent, all I smell is praline and vanilla. But, I keep smelling my wrist trying to decide if I like smelling like food or not. I mean its sweet like a bakery or a dessert so is this considered a "young" thing? Do 40 year olds want to smell like a delicious cake? Do I want to think of baked goods all day? It is very warm and comforting, like a cup of warm milk or cocoa. Not at all offensive. It may make someone around you hungry. Definitely doesn't seem like something Julia Roberts would wear so maybe that answers my "young" question. Perhaps good for a teen or a twenty something. That said, I may buy it so I can own one "gourmand" scent. Best sweet fragrance I have ever tried. It's so expensive & now i understand why- it is quality it is like cashmere and silk liquidized. It smells expensive and uplifting and it lingers and imprints on you. It is the definition of beautiful. I don't know why i have only just discovered this fragrance- maybe because I'm a visual person and the bottle didn't strike me. But oh this fragrance doesn't need an over the top bottle like marc jacobs or celeb fragrances. Because the scent inside it 100% unique and 100% top quality. I honestly cannot pick a fault with this perfume, well other than the fact its expensive and i want it right now but cannot afford it, it is flawless. It is comforting and feminine and elegant. Amazingly long lasting, beautifully blended, truly enchanting, classy, feminine, innocent, embraces been a woman. It is so creamy and gourmand to me, when i smell it my mouth waters. I can imagine a lot of men loving this scent, it isn't sex in a bottle, it is 'making love' in a bottle. Yum- I love it! Personally dont think it's anything like flowerbomb or any other perfume i've tried. Its totally unique to me- maybe it just works wonders with my skin chemistry. & is the perfect scent for my skin. About a month ago I went shopping for a perfume. I love both sweet and fresh scents, but I wanted something appropriate for winter days, something intriguing, sexy, sweet and gourmand. After trying like 10 perfumes that to me were all "meh", i was about to go, when the shop assistant said "here, try this one". One sniff and i was "WHOA". That sealed the deal. I am not good with notes, I can't describe which one is more prominent so I cant give a full description, but I can say how it makes me feel: I feel sexy, confident, alluring, feminine and sophisticated. And most of all, I can't stop sniffing myself everytime I wear LVEB. Sillage is huge, i can feel my own perfume even after several hours and longevity is a monster: more than 12 hours on me. I am so glad I own this fragrance. This does not smell like Flowerbomb, unless Flowerbomb went to a candy shop and came back covered in sweets. Yes, they both are sweet and have a contain patchouli, but this is a gourmand, no doubts about it! In that sense, it's more comparable to Jimmy Choo. Thick, sweet, and edible. Flowerbomb is sweet too, but it's sweet because of the floral notes, which include a very sweet variety of orchid. Flowerbomb really isn't foody in any sense, and also contains a fresh green tea note that this doesn't have. This is praline, vanilla, and patchouli mainly. Even the flowers here are more powdery and balmy, unlike in Flowerbomb. I noticed that many people are saying "this is like Flowerbomb but better" or vice versa. Well if you tend to prefer gourmands (true, foody gourmands) you will probably prefer this one. If you are more of a floral person like myself, you'll prefer Flowerbomb. La Vie Est Belle could maybe pass as a flanker of Flowerbomb, but it is no dupe, not even close. Mixed feelings about this perfume. I like it, but I don't like it. Tried it on yesterday and only one spritz lasted me all day long. It is absolutely a good smelling fragrance, but it's veeery sweet. At first it started out fresh and sugary, but during the dry down it turned into chocolate (which is kinda nice) and after a while it turned into Flowerbomb (but still better than FB IMO). Conclusion: I can see why people like this, but it's too sweet for me. Especially as it reminds me of Flowerbomb in the end, which I can't stand. But for some reason I couldn't stop smelling my wrist, because it was somehow nice and comforting, but I wouldn't buy it for myself. If a friend was wearing this perfume, I wouldn't mind smelling her. Just not for myself. I've tried very very hard with La Vie Est Belle, and while I do like it there's something in it that doesn't seem to like me. In the bottle it's lovely, on the tester card it's lovely but on me it turns sharp and weird. Maybe the patchouli is just too much, or the synthetic blackcurrant, I should have known better, I can't get along well with either of those notes. I will pass this to my daughter, she loves sweet scents and we seem to have a different skin chemistry. La Vie Est Belle has been rehomed where it can be better appreciated. This perfume caught me off guard. I smelled it in a magazine and couldn't stop thinking about it. So I dug out the magazine and rubbed it on my skin. Then I couldn't stop smelling myself. I was like a sweet marshmallow praline awesome diva. I usually don't like sweet, and this is sweet for sure, but it hooked me of first sniff. A little goes a long way with this one ladies. Edit: A lot of people have said this is a knock off of Flowerbomb. I disagree. I have worn both and worn one on one wrist and on the other to do a compare. They smell different to me. Are they both sweet? Yes but the similarity ends there. Also La Vie Est Belle lasts 3 times as long as Flowerbomb that bombs out after about 2 hours for me. La View Est Belle lasts at least 8. Edit 2: This perfume opened me to sweet perfumes. Now I have bought a whole bunch. Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and other make-up counter smells are not normally the types of scents that I run to. On a whim, I just happened to pick up a fragrance sample collection at Ulta that came with La Vie Est Bell, DownTown, Coach Love, Acqua di Gioia and Romance. #1 gripe first off the bat -- it DOES NOT have staying power. I put it on about 3 hours ago with my intent to review it, but unfortunately I can barely smell it on my skin now. Unless it mixes with my body chemistry so well that I cannot smell it. IMO, it fades way too easily. At first spritz it just reminded me of another gaudy, floral, 'old-lady-ish' kinda smell. It isn't the same notes as 'Very Sexy' from VS, but the same idea.. it's a bit overpowering and has that generic mingling of sweetly spicy freesia and peony. (I haven't checked the actual notes in the fragrance, so again, JMO). I really thought and hoped that it would fade and melt into a softer or muskier or lighter scent, but it did not seem to change on my skin. It smells still of peony and other bright florals and fruits. Maybe I am smelling a mix of rose and tangerine. It just really blurs my olfactory system. Im the girl that likes my scents in layers, or ones that fade into something beautifully into the skin. Im sorry Lancome, but please stick to make-up and face creams. Ambivalent. La Vie Est Belle goes on strong, chemical. But then La Vie develops into a soft, beautiful, longing floral after several hours and into the following day. When you are at this stage of the fragrance, it is enchanting to enveloped in such a romantic, evocative cloud. Substantial sillage, immense lasting power. La Vie Est Belle: Life is beautiful & Life is sweet... Very pretty lovely nutty perfume! Intensely sweet but not sickly, the praline note is dominant. I normally dislike gourmand in perfume because of some annoying sugary or buttery scent except this one. I guess the balanced ingredients of fruits, flowers, and gourmand (nutty) is the key. Longevity is great and the bottle is beautiful. It's the best of Lancome. Sweet yes,but a little spicy also! It is the very first parfume that i bought and it is,well, sweet! I bought it during hot summer Fall, here in Greece,my boss said he hated-he likes Hermes on me,and so i waited for colder days. (My boss is also one of my best friends for about 20 years so i did not have to kill him.) During winter is so much better smells like powder with sugar if that makes sense,on me. First time i like a parfume by Lancome! And also... first time that... my boyfriend after 14 years we ve been toogether, first time,i repeat, he has noticed a parfume on me!!Now i use also the shower gel and please try the body lotion! It is a little different but also very nice! P.S My old time favourite fragrance is Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker which is no longer available, smelled like N.Rodriguez.Nothing like La Vie.... OMG I received a vial to try. Everywhere I went I was complimented on how good I smell. I do agree at first spray it is very sweet but then mellows into a floral praline fantasy and lasts all day and night. My hubby got the 2.5 oz bottle for me and I will wear it every single day. This is a very well made perfume! I do not think it smells like Flowerbomb at all! Lancome has a big hit with this one, please never discontinue or change anything about it. Bottle looks stunning on my vanity as well! I LOVE LA VIE EST BELLE ! So, i got so obsesed while testing La Vie est belle at the store and the little sample i recieved. So, i got a 4ml mini (same set as tresor midnight rose). My mom found it sickly sweet, but for me it's dreamy delicious... It starts as a cloying cloud, then it settles at some amazing flowers then a relaxing vanilla with some praline.... This is what my perfume dreams are made of. If you would like something a little less heavy that smells quite much like this, I suggest trying the Tigi Bedhead Colour Combat Colour Goddess Leave-In Balsam. In the bottle it smells like caramel and a little burnt sugar, but on my hair I swear it smells just like La Vie Est belle, and it lasts for 48 hours too... which is very similar to this perfume... so strange! BTW: I use a minty conditioner, so this might smell just a tiny bit different because of that, but I don't think it makes much of a difference. I tried this on a card yesterday, having previously only smelled it from the bottle. I'd quickly dismissed this as another toothachingly-sweet perfume with no personality, but I kept being drawn back to my card and by this morning couldn't wait to try it on my skin. So, I sprayed it on my neck and let me tell you, this is as gourmand as they come! It lasts and lasts and really is a fragrance of excellent quality. Now, I'm no stranger to sweet perfumes, but for me to really want to wear or own it, it has to have something special that makes it interesting. All I can say is I think that La Vie Est Belle does have 'it', as, in spite of it giving me a headache, I found it to be absolutely addictive and I just kept wanting more. I don't smell the fruit so much in this, but certainly the vanilla and pralines are just delicious! I can imagine this getting a lot of compliments and may just have to add this to my wish list… Incidentally, I don't like Flowerbomb. Edit: Having tried La Vie Est Belle a couple more times, I've concluded that sadly this isn't for me. It gives me headaches and makes me feel nauseous, in the same way that Flora by Gucci does. I find both of them cloying and unfortunately I'm unable to tolerate either one. I just felt overwhelmed and aggravated by LVEB. Have removed it from my wish list... I truly love this fragrance, tested it and its beautiful, long lasting and has great sillage. Unfortunately i cant afford it right now, and i have many still to get through!! but will sure probably get it once i run low on my Juicy couture and Killer queen, which are quite similar. Just wanted to say, that i think Lancome has taken a bit of a different route, and a new direction toward their scents. Definitely the 'in' fragrance these days seems to be gourmand, lots of choc, praline and nougat. Their fragrances never consisted of syrupy notes, but rather complex florals and classics, such as Poeme (my favorite Lancome) and Tresor (not my type). But nevertheless Lancome are amazing, and whatever they create - they get it right. Love La Vie est belle, and just wish i bought this instead of Killer queen!!!!! even if the price difference is humangous. If you like sweet fragrances, along the lines of Lolita lempicka, you will love this, and if you are into Givenchy style, i think give this a try ! La Vie est Belle is absolutely stunning ! I see many comparisons to Flowerbomb however, I dislike Flowerbomb yet I adore La Vie est Belle. I don't find it very sweet. On me it smells like yummy warm vanilla praline with a beautiful bubbling light and happy floral. I feel the floral and the vanilla praline are equally noticeable and balance each other nicely. I grab just a tad of patchouli . I find La Vie est Belle very uplifting, it's a feel good scent. It smells so much better on the skin than on clothing. It lasts all day and you just need one spritz. I can see why people wouldn't like this if they wear too much. At one lovely spritz, it's perfection. I will always have a bottle of La Vie est Belle in my collection. LOVE ! Having had this sprayed on me once by an SA at the mall I know it is strong, so for my second skin trial I went with just 2 sprays, one on each inner arm. Initally I thought the notes held promise, but this stuff does not let up. The drydown went ultimately to a sickeningly sweet berry syrup with vanilla plopped in. I don't even get any lovely praline except for more syrup. I could not even scrub this off it was so strong. I really love the new Tresor Lumineuse, it's light and soft and pretty praline. La Vie est Belle is a syrupy mess. This stuff should go on pancakes, not people. The iris and patchouli do not save this one because you cannot discern them underneath the overwhelming berry fruity syrup. This is definitely a long lasting perfume and my husband did say 'you smell nice' but I think that's it - nice... nothing unique and no real personality for me. Been wearing for two days. Longevity is good. Great if you go somewhere where you can't keep re-applying (business for example). I definitely got the jasmine, vanilla and praline. It is pleasant... a nice floral without being overpowering. I won't be buying it though. This is probably one of the sweetest perfumes I have ever smelled! The opening is really strong, so strong you can taste it. It's like a big blast of juicy blackcurrants, followed by the notes of vanilla and caramel. It's very sweet and heavy; one spray is enough to fill the whole room. If you are overwhelmed by the opening, and find it too strong and heady, be patient – wait for the fragrance to develop and smooth out... And eventually, it will unveil its beautiful, soft praline and vanilla notes. And don't let the patchouli put you off, because honestly, it is barely there, and it stops the sweetness from becoming too overbearing. It's like a warm, soft vanilla blanket, with lots of sugar and caramel and a little bit of patchouli and iris, which gives it a slightly powdery feel. So many comparisons have been made between this and Flowerbomb, so I guess it's difficult not to refer to it. I think the two are more or less in the same vein, both being kind of a sweet, fruity patchouli. But to me, Flowerbomb is heavier on the patchouli, and a little less sweet. It also has more sparkling fruit notes, and a distinct tea note which I really love. La Vie Est Belle, on the other hand, is sweeter and softer, and has way more projection.
